SOURCES & METHODOLOGY
Facts with
a clear origin.
Vervig DSV is an independent research project covering a selected collection of 58 dive support vessels, not a complete global fleet or an official registry. Each profile connects published information to the vessel’s IMO number; dates, source roles and unresolved questions remain visible.
Identify the vessel
The IMO number anchors each profile. Reviewed AIS-provider listings, operator publications and official registers support names and radio identifiers. A changed name or MMSI does not create a new hull, and a name match alone is not enough.
Review dates describe when we checked evidence. They are not AIS observation times.
Read specifications in context
Operator, builder and equipment-maker publications are preferred for technical particulars. Design ratings, certified limits, installed equipment and planned configurations can differ; the source’s wording and qualifications stay alongside the value.
Catalogue fallbacks retain their original source label. Additional publications are shown where the evidence differs. An undated document remains undated.
Keep ownership roles separate
Registered ownership, beneficial ownership, group ownership, operational management and P&I entry describe different relationships. A club’s member or entered-owner listing is not automatically proof of registered ownership.
Insurance dates refer to the published period of entry, not a guarantee of present cover. Historical announcements retain their event dates.
Retain inspection limits
Public flag, class and regulator records are reported within their available coverage. US Coast Guard lookup results retain the query date, vessel match, deficiencies and dispositions where provided.
An absent record does not establish a clean safety history. Published class notation is not a current certificate, and these pages do not assign a safety rating.
Distinguish reports from live activity
The interactive workspace combines received AISStream observations with separately labelled, dated research snapshots. Receiver coverage is incomplete; neither a historical coordinate nor a current regional description establishes a vessel’s present assignment.
These static profiles omit positions, status, speed and destination. Open an interactive profile to inspect the observation time and source.
Show what remains unknown
Missing particulars and research gaps are stated explicitly. Supplied screenshots and source-authored scores remain reference material in the workspace; they are not treated as independently verified technical ratings on these pages.
Photographs keep their identity evidence, capture dates, permissions and photographer credits in the interactive galleries. A rendering is not counted as a vessel photograph.
Check the original evidence
Every vessel page links to the publications supporting its facts. Review the original document and its configuration before making operational decisions. The interactive research directory provides more sources and coverage notes.
